Keeping Records, my first novel, is upmarket literary fiction about music, ambition, family, race, and the things we inherit from the people who came before us. It moves between North Carolina and New York City and through the record business of the late 1980s and early ’90s, a world I knew firsthand, though the story and its characters are very much their own. I’m currently seeking representation for the novel.I recently finished writing How To Fly a Spaceship Past the Moon, an absurdist nonfiction book about longevity science, space travel, and the possibility that the universe already knows how to do everything we’re trying to do.The philosophy is equal parts genuine and gloriously fraudulent.
